
Joseph Stein (Book) won both the Tony Award and the Drama Critic Circle Award for "Best Musical" for Fiddler on the Roof. His other musicals include Zorba (Tony nomination), Irene, Juno, Take Me Along and King of Hearts. He also co-authored, with Alan Jay Lerner, the musical Carmelina; with Charles Strouse, the musical, Rags; and with Will Glickman, the shows Plain and Fancy and Mr. Wonderful. Most recently, he collaborated with John Kander and Fred Ebb on the world premier of Over and Over. His straight plays are Enter Laughing, Before the Dawn, and (with Will Glickman) Mrs. Gibbons Boys. Mr. Stein began his career in television and radio, writing for The Sid Caesar Show, Your Show Of Shows, The Henry Morgan Show, and many others. He wrote the screenplays of Enter Laughing and Fiddler on the Roof, for which he won the Screen Writers Guild Award. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild Council and is married to Elisa Stein, a psychotherapist.
Stan Daniels (Music and Lyrics) was born in Toronto, Canada. He wrote music and lyrics for a musical of Molieres Le Misanthrope, presented by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and for an African-American Cinderella musical, Cindy, produced by ABC. He also wrote the score for EveryTime I See You, a musical based on Bernard Slades Same Time Next Year, which opened slightly out-of-town - in Budapest, Hungary - where it ran for two years (in Hungarian). In his television career, he has received eight Emmys for writing and producing The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Taxi (he was also one of the creators of Taxi). His TV work has also garnered three Golden Globes, two Humanitas prizes, a Writers Guild of America Award, and a Cable Ace award. He has created or co-created Phyllis and Roc, among others. Other writing and producing credits include the HBO mini-series Glory, Glory (Houston International Film Festival Gold Prize winner), For Richer Or Poorer (Jack Lemmon) and The Substitute Wife (Farah Fawcett). He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Alene, who has honored him with her constant affection to make up for the awards he was nominated for but didnt win (and thinks he should have).
